NNIA Bylaws

ARTICLE 1

Name and Territorial-Limits
SECTION -1 The name of this organization shall be the NELSON NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION, INC. hereinafter referred to as N.N.I.A.

SECTION -2 The primary territorial concern shall be the area bounded by Beidler Street, Laketon Avenue, Peck Street to Terrace, and Muskegon Lake.

ARTICLE II

Affirmative Action
SECTION -1 Nelson Neighborhood Improvement Association will con conduct its own internal affairs in such a way as to affirmatively promote equal opportunity., NNIA will affirmatively promote equal opportunity in its membership, Board composition, committee memberships, staffing, purchasing, contracting, providing of services; and all other facets-of the corporation's business. The corporation will not discriminate against anyone because of race, religion, sex, color, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital or handicap status.

ARTICLE III

Purposes

SECTION -1 N.N.I.A. is concerned with all aspects of the neighborhood as they relate to the residents of the area. N.N.I.A: may do any and all lawful acts in furtherance of the following purposes:
A. To promote communication, cooperation, and friendship among the residents:
B. To maintain and improve our property and the physical appearance of our community:
C. To identify neighborhood problems and social needs; to develop and implement solutions:
D. To have a voice in civic matters affecting our community:
E: To initiate neighborhood programs to improve the quality of life:
F. To develop a spirit of pride and individual obligation to the area in which we reside;
G. To receive and to disburse monies, gifts, bequests and goods for Community Services and for Charity; This Corporation is organized exclusively for Charitable, Religious Educational and Scientific purposes, and for other such purposes as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. This Corporation shall not carry on activities not permitted to be carried on by a Corporation exempt from Federal tax under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
H. To promote and develop successful multiracial and multicultural neighborhoods
